Telling people about your or your child's diabetes is a very personal decision, and what you decide is based on a dozen different variables. Do we hold the diabetes card close during job interviews and disclose afterwards? Do we explain to teachers before the school year starts? How about on first dates, or meeting new friends, or sending your child for a playdate for the first time?

Diabetes is part of every situation, but the choice to disclose belongs to you.  Our CWD family shared with us that they disclose only if there is a problem that comes up, with "showing our meter or diabetes devices as a way of explaining" as a close second.

However you choose to share, it's good to know that there's a whole community of people living with diabetes, and caring for people with diabetes, right here at Children with Diabetes.  We've got your back, however you decide to disclose.
