  1. Visit Diabetes Handprint to submit the word in your hand. For every word submitted, OneTouch will donate $5 up to a maximum of $250,000 for the Diabetes Education and Camping Association (DECA) to support children's diabetes camps and to Taking Control of Your Diabetes (TCOYD) to support adult diabetes conferences.   2. JDRF is teaming up with Discovery Health, Novo Nordisk, and Discovery Education to launch Young Voices: Life With Diabetes, a national web-based video campaign allowing teens and young adults to share insights on the challenges you face living with type 1 diabetes. Building on the momentum of the upcoming election, record a one-minute video message to the incoming President highlighting your opinions, attitudes, wishes, and needs for how diabetes care can be improved. For each video submitted, Novo Nordisk will donate $10 to JDRF, so send in your video, and spread the word to all your friends! Videos must be submitted by November 1, 2008.
  3. The Diabetes HOWTM Coalition brings together multiple members of the diabetes community – patients and their loved ones, health care professionals, diabetes and public health organizations, and businesses – in an effort to inspire action at the community level that will improve the quality of life for people living with and at risk for diabetes. Diabetes HOWTM is kicking off with a summit meeting in Brussels, Belgium October 20-21. Learn more about it through from Paul Madden's Summit blog.
  4. The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation presents the 7th New York Research Update, to be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 8am - 4pm at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York. CWD's Jeff Hitchcock is participating on a panel discussion.
