Are There Camps For Kids With Type 2 Diabetes?

One way for children and teens to get support for type 2 diabetes is to attend a diabetes camp. The environment of camp teaches kids and teens good disease management habits, provides an opportunity for physical challenges, and is a way to have fun and share experiences with other campers and with adult counselors - many who also have diabetes. Camp counselors and staff provide support and activities designed to teach good nutrition habits and ways to incorporate exercise as part of a fun, daily routine. Above all, diabetes camp makes kids and teens realize that they're not alone in trying to keep type 2 diabetes under control.
