Support Groups in Michigan
- The Brighton Go-Getters
Our group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1pm. This is a group made up of parents of Type 1 kids who can talk and relate to our problems with this disease. We have been able to get carb counts on the lunch menus, and then published on the school web sites. We have also pressured the school into letting the kids be more independent! Please contact me at the above email address if you need help here in Livingston County. Just make sure you say it's about "The Brighton Go-Getters" diabetic group. Contact Denise Pentescu via email at npentescu AT ismi.net for location.
- Flint Support Group
In the Flint area, we have a support group for both parents of children with diabetes and the kids themselves. We meet once a month to support each other and plan monthly activities for the kids. For more information, please email [email protected] or call 810-762-6162 to leave a message with the nurses in the endocrinology office at Hurley Hospital. This support gorup is open to everyone, whether or not you are a patient through Hurley's services.
- Monroe Support Group
Parents in the Monroe area are invited to a new support group meeting on, Saturday April 21 at 3pm. It is going to be held at 470 Lavender, Monroe, MI. Contact Jenny Klocek 734-847-4868 for more information.
