Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Bishop Family

The Bishop Family, Seminole, Florida

October 30, 2002
Rufus just arrived today; he was waiting patiently by our door when we got home from school. Tomorrow is Halloween and I am debating over how he should dress. Should I find him a costume or have him go as himself? Hmmm… Sadly, Rufus will not be able to go "Trick or Treating" since my family and I are taking him to our church's annual skating party.

Rufus was welcomed into high school with open arms! I, Sarah, a 15 year old, diabetic for 11 years and a pumper for 3˝ years, showed Rufus around campus happily. He fit in well with the crowd, aside from being a bear that is. Tonight we took Rufus to the skating party where he met quite a few friends.

This weekend Rufus went with my mother, some people from my church, and me to a conference called "Just Give Me Jesus." When we were in the hotel staying over night, Rufus joined us in a great game of Moods, the game where it's not what you say, but how you say it. It was hilarious, but tough at times, such as when you had to say "I'm better than you" humbly.

Tonight at 10:00 I started a basal check, and had to check my levels every 2 hours while skipping breakfast. So far, I have done well and Rufus doesn't really mind being woken up so often.

Tonight I am going to my Homecoming Dance, but sadly Rufus will not be joining me. The Banquet Room my school rented has a "No Animals" rule. Really, you'd think they'd make an exception for Rufus…

Today I followed a technician for school, as a part of a Shadow Day project. He taught me some computer expertise that I passed on to Rufus!

Today is the last day Rufus went with me to my church Youth group. Most of the teens welcomed him and wished him luck, as well as to the next family to get him.

November 15, 2002
Today is Rufus's last day with us. We are sad to see him go, but we hope that the Kohlstruck Family has lots and fun and adventures with Rufus!
