Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Wright Family

The Wright Family, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada

February 2003
Logan was very excited to receive Rufus, we hadn't discussed it till we knew he was on his way. She fell in love with him instantly. I found Rufus made a difference in how she except her injections, she didn't seem to fuss as much. Rufus went everywhere with Logan. Logan's teacher did a special show and tell with Rufus and read the book about Rufus, we also gave Rufus to another teacher for the afternoon as there was a boy in grade 3 who was just diagnosed before Christmas, her class really enjoyed the story as well as all the pictures. Rufus went to Logan's Irish Dance class and did a little reel and the alien dance with the whole class.

Rufus also helped Logan when she was put on the glucose monitor for 3 days, she was scared but she held on to Rufus and it made it a bit better. That day we went to the JDRF office in Ottawa and bought Ruby for Logan, she loves her (but still misses Rufus). On Feb 22, 2003 we all went to a fishing derby, Rufus got to ride on the ski doo, we spent the night with friends and through the evening we received 30 cm of snow it was beautiful.

We were very sad to see Rufus go and some tears fell, but Logan was glad that Rufus was going to another Little boy or girl who had diabetes and she knew they would love him as much as she did.
