The Hans Family, Grand Rapids, Michigan
November 1, 2002
My name is Jessica Hans. And this is my story with Ruby. Ruby and I were playing basketball when all of a sudden it started to rain. In fact, it started to pour! We went inside and a couple minutes later it started to thunder and lightning. And we were at school. About an hour later, we got a tornado watch. Then my mom picked us up and we went home. Later on, we watched the news and it said there would be no tornados in Grand Rapids. We were glad.
I'm 9 years old and I go to school at West Side Christian. Right now, Ruby is in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I think Ruby likes it here. I know that Ruby likes meeting every one of you, though. For my school, I am doing a 3 on 3 basketball game, and I think Ruby will be there. If she is, you can be sure I will write about it.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I have diabetes, too! On day, Ruby even got to go to school with me. She had a blast! I passed her around the room and talked about her. I told everyone in my class the whole diabetes story. My class really seemed to like it. And I'm glad!
Jessica Hans, age 9
