Who is primarily responsible for your child's diabetes care?

Poll dates: January 31 - February 7, 1999
Total Votes: 776

Moms are the clear winner when it comes to day-to-day care for children with diabetes, according to our poll. In almost half of families, moms provide most of the care. Dads provide most of the care in only 5% of families, with moms and dads sharing equally in 23%. Kids are responsible for their own care in 20% of families.

Given the demands of caring for a child with diabetes, it's important for primary care givers to have someone else who can step in and help. Parents should find a baby sitter they can trust so they can take a break from diabetes care, if only for an evening.
