My name is Hannah and I'm 13. I've had diabetes since I was 2. My mom says I was drinking a lot of water and had no energy at all. I also was eating pounds of butter and pasta but was losing weight. My parents took me to the doctor, but he said I had the flu and would get better. But I kept getting worse, so my parents took me to another doctor, who recognized my symptoms and gave me a blood test, which came back at 431. They said any longer & I could have gone in a coma.
I got an insulin pump at three and I've been taking care of it since I was nine.
Sometimes it gets hard to be different from other kids, but diabetes has made me who I am. I also attend ADA Camp Carefree and I love it. I would love to email other kids who also have diabetes.
My email is .
