Back to Kid' Voices Hanah

Hi, my name is Hanah and I have Type 1 Diabetes. I am seven years old and live in Michigan. I am in the second grade.

I was diagnosed on October 10, 2005. The symptoms that I came across was starting to wet the bed and drink too much. My grandmother kept telling my mom to take me to the doctors. My mom never listened to her. My mom finally listened to my grandmother. So my mom took me to the doctor. They said that my pancreas stopped working. Then they said I had to go to the hospital. I was very scared as soon as he said that.

When I left the doctors, I went back to my house and packed to go to the hospital. On our way there, I had MacDonald's. The doctor said it was ok because I was on my way to start my insulin anyway, so one more time wouldn't really hurt much. When I got to the hospital, the doctors check my blood pressure. Then they told my parents that I had diabetes and they checked by blood sugar. They gave my parents two free meters, one for home and one for school. I had to stay for two and a half days at the hospital.

My hobbies are swimming, drawing and reading. I also go to Brownies.

If you want to be a pen-pal with me, that would be great! My e-mail address is canah2 AT
