Hi, my name is Taylor I am 10 and just newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Well for a long time, I wasn't feeling well. It felt like the flu. I was drinking tons of water, going to the bathroom a lot, and was extremely tired! One night in January 2005, I went to the hospital and was told that I had diabetes. That night I was taken in a ambulance to Children's Hospital where I would stay for four days to learn about diabetes.
Since I found out about my illness it has been quite overwhelming. Now I am on Humalog and am taking 4 shots a day. I would love to get the pump but unfortunately I have to wait. I am now in what is called the honeymoon period where your body produces some insulin for a short time.
My hobbies are singing, cheerleading, and riding my bike. In the future I would love to talk to kids who have my same problem. I am also looking for a diabetic pen pal. Thanks for taking the time to listen to my story!
