Back to Kids' Voices Salman

Hi my name is Salman Iqbal. I live in Al-Khober, Saudi Arabia. I am 15 years old. I was diagonosed when I was 11. I think diabetes is just like a friend -- if you treat it with care it will be good and it will not hurt you. Before it was very difficult for me to cope with my diabetes because I was not used to exercising and checking my blood sugar level, but now I enjoy doing my exercises and checking blood level. It is a routine, and having shots is a regular thing. Because for me, insulin shots are my life. If I dont take it, it will mean a lot to my life.

My message for my friends is don't panic. Doing exercise or walking and enjoy it. The best way to keep your glucose level normal is to join a club and swim, play tennis or squash and football. In a club there is a different environment because you don't feel that you are the only one exercising, but there are also many other people without diabetes but doing the same exercises that you do.
