Hi, my name is Jason and I am 10 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on October 16, 1998.
The thing I hate the most about diabetes is that I do not get to eat sweets like I use to. The best part about diabetes is that I get to trade in my Halloween candy for money and give my candy to kids at the hospital who did not get to trick or treat on Halloween, so I give my sweets to them cause I can't eat them.
The hardest part of diabetes was learning how to give myself shots and finger pricks, but I learned that they do not hurt! I hope that their will soon be a cure for diabetes for everyone.
I would like to hear from other kids my age that have good ideas to help me learn how to make the best of this situation, and if you know of any good recipes for snacks that I can have. Also if you would like to e-mail me please do I would like to hear from kids that have diabetes.
Thanks for reading about me.
Jason can be reached via e-mail at [email protected]
