  1. Would a glucose challenged C-Peptide test be definitive in determining type 1 diabetes in my case? If so, could you describe the test procedures and how I prepare for the test? (28 Feb 2011)

  2. My daughter, who swims three evenings a week, has been having stubborn highs some nights and corrections are not helping. Could this be a growth spurt? Is this common during puberty? What should I do to minimize the highs? Do rebounds cause insulin resistance? (28 Feb 2011)

  3. During delivery, the mother received dextrose causing the baby's blood sugar to go up. The baby is feeding a lot and acting irritable. Is there a reason to be concerned? (27 Feb 2011)

  4. Despite many increases in insulin, my daughter's blood sugars have been off the scale. She is now in the hospital and under a doctor's care, but her daytime blood sugars remain elevated. Do you have any ideas what could be going on? (19 Feb 2011)

  5. Our son's bedtime target is 8.0 mmol/L [145 mg/dl], but he is often lower than that and not interested in eating to raise his blood sugar. What do you recommend we do? He has had one morning seizure due to a low. (14 Feb 2011)

  8. Diagnosed with type 2 last October, my son was re-diagnosed with type 1 when he tested positive for antibodies. Another doctor said it could be somewhere in the middle of both. Should we try to have him seen at the Joslin Center in Boston for a clear diagnosis? (7 Feb 2011)

  9. My 12-year-old daughter has had diabetes for 10 years. Since several of my family members are/have been suffering from its complications, might there be some genetic component that my daughter will suffer complications as well? (1 Feb 2011)
