From Spokane, Washington, USA:

Can type 1 diabetes be caused by a blow to the head or a brain injury?

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune-mediated disease with a long prodromic (preclinical) phase and is not secondary to head or brain injuries. These could perhaps act upon the ongoing immune process as final triggers towards the clinical disease though.
