From California:

Are vaccinations safe for children with diabetes?

Children with diabetes should be vaccinated for all the same reasons as children without diabetes. Other than acute febrile illness (or other acute illness) I know of no general contraindications. You should always discuss specific issues, such as epilepsy or severe allergy, with your doctor before immunisation.

In the UK, specific recommendations go out every year before the 'flu' epidemic to have patients with diabetes vaccinated. [Editorial comment: This is also true in the U.S.] We don't go out of our way to recommend this for our patients but some decide to get the shot.
